Triconian Corporations

As in any economic setting, money is the fuel of the rich, and there are many, many companies in the sector just itching to sell you something. The following companies are not the only ones in the sector, but they are key and very influencial to the politics of the nations in the sector. They not only supply worlds with weapons, ships and defenses, but information, basic living comforts, and even very advanced living comforts. With all this in mind, some of the following companies are as powerful, if not more so, than some nations.

Universal Sunray:

Universal Sunray, started on Urth as the Triconian empire was started, was incalculably instrumental to the development of the Triconian empire. Universal Sunray provided ships, technology, defenses, trained troops, exploration services, planetary support, political security and countless other resources that the Triconians didn't have developed for themselves yet. They became, for the most part, the backbone of the Triconian empire.

Universal Sunray developed a network of laboritories and safe﹉aven depots accessable to all of its employees. These were cryptically known as White Mountain and Black Mountain. White Mountain(s) were research and development labs where scientists were funded to create all manner of militech. Black Mountains, conversely, were logistics depots where a well connected employee could pick up virtually any weapon he or she desired.

Universal Sunray was founded by Ben Rey, Joseph Pournelle, and later reinforced with direct backing from Mike Sterling. It was forged out of the rubble starting at various space and technological centers on the North American continent. A small story on the origins of UV. A story on the big break for UV.

Beforore Ben Rey disappeared off planet for the first of many adventures, he embarked on a jouney to China, where after over a year he spread the word of the Triconians, humanitarian efforts were applied, and where he was introduced to the martial art of Tiger Zen.

When he returned, he brought with him a family of masters of the Tiger Zen, which made a big impact on how Universal Sunray was later organized. Khan, Ben's personal bodygaurd from then on, enforced a strict code of honorable relations between employees of Universal Sunray and Ben. Anyone who did not treat Ben Rey with honor and respect could have been (or was) killed. Corporate waste was quickly reduced from then on.

Oftentimes, the corporation was involved in high levels of the Triconian government. Mike Sterling bought a hefty chunk of shares, as did Raven Thundercloud. In fact, Raven Thundercloud's cybernetic redesigner, Connor Donovan, was an employee of White Mountain. Allan Hawk arranged a profitable deal with Universal Sunray to produce his line of Golem power armors.

During the Armex invasion, Universal Sunray was a first line defense in developing cybernated troops to combat the Armex. They helped develop the Rat and the Cat warriors for just this job. Also during this time, the Black and White Mountain facilities that Universal Sunray had created came to be handy depots and hideouts against these foes.

After the Armex were vanquished, Universal Sunray once again had its hands full with the task of rebuilding the decimated Triconian space fleet. Richard Staltz, the following CEO to Universal Sunray, after designing trade agreements with the Cyrans, started to design trading agreements with a few slected Orisian worlds. These agreements were mostly just rumored, but some evidence is around to support this claim.

Markham Gillian

Markham Gillian was a supreme arms and armor supplier that was based on multiple planets during the ancient Triconian empire. So superior were their weapons, that they still work when discovered at ancient archaeological sites found in this century. Many companies reproduce these superior weapon designs, notably Blackthorn Markham Gillian of Blackthorn Enterprises. These weapons are found throughout the Galaxy.

MG grew from a humble gunsmithing operation into the ancient Triconian's main source of weaponry. The two founders of the company, Terence Markham and Jerry Gillian, quickly learned the noble arts of hostile takeovers. Soon the likes of Colt and Remington had been bought out by the pair. Their sensible and lasting designs spawned a slew of imitators, which persist into the present ROBO day.

Blackthorn Interprises

Blackthorn Interprises was created back on Urth before the Armex landed. Jason Blackthorn, creator, priniciple, and fearless leader of the company used it and the all resources he could steal to get himself off of Mars with his ship, the Dur Zeppelin. The Dur Zeppelin became the new home and offices of Blackthorn Enterprises, until Jason Blackthorn and his men finally took Alpha Virginis II from the Orisians and set up shop on planet.

On Alpha Virginis II, Blackthorn Enterprises is now a large corpation controlling many subsidiaries residing on neutral worlds around AVII. Notably, it also is the head of not only Blackthorn Markham Gillian, but the legalized black market on the planet. Blackthorn Enterprises also has the job of supplying the troops of the planet with captured and discovered weapons.

Blackthorn Markham Gillian was created when the Blackthorn Triconians kept discovering ancient Triconian and MG factories. Essentially, this company resells new and ancient MG weapons with little or no modification. Very sucessful, but not very flexible to the market. Major competetor is Trident, also on AVII.
